3C FITNESS IS:

Core, Cardio and Conditioning

3C represents these three crucial elements of physical fitness. 3C Fitness sessions embrace each of them to ensure an all-round workout.

Core muscles are found in the trunk of the body, mainly the deep abdominal muscles, back muscles, waist (obliques), pelvic floor and diaphragm. They provide postural stability. Movement passes through the core from the upper to the lower body and vice-versa. Having a strong, flexible core helps to protect your back and other muscles, and is crucial for good balance and control.

Cardio is short for ‘cardiovascular’ exercise, which increases your heart rate, blood flow and breathing rate. it makes your heart and lungs work harder, which makes them more efficient. It’s important to do about 150 minutes of moderate intensity cardio per week in order to help manage blood pressure, boost mood and maintain a healthy weight, along with many other benefits.

Conditioning is resistance training to make muscles stronger and more efficient. It targets the big muscle groups in the upper and lower body, such as thighs, glutes, chest and shoulders, as well as the abs and back. Resistance can be provided with equipment such as weights, bands or by using bodyweight. Strength training is crucial, especially as we age, and should be performed at least twice weekly for 20-30 minutes.
